NURS 630 Nursing Informatics Capstone Sample Papers, Week by Week

Liberty University · MSN · Nursing · Updated

NURS 630 is the capstone of Liberty's MSN nursing informatics track, where students show mastery of the specialty's competencies through an evidence-based project and an analysis of informatics roles. The samples below cover its written work: two forums, the project's discovery, evidence summary, and translation and evaluation papers, the role analysis paper and the final digital poster.

What NURS 630 covers

The course reads the ANA's Nursing Informatics: Scope and Standards of Practice with McGonigle and Mastrian's Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge, and it finishes the informatics practicum; the curriculum vitae, portfolio and Typhon logs are personal records and are not sampled here. Forum threads run 500 words with one to three scholarly sources and at least two biblical principles, and each of two replies runs 250 words with one or two citations.

The evidence-based project carries a problem from the earlier INFO 668 course through a three-to-five page discovery paper, a three-to-five page synthesis of eight to ten recent studies and a three-to-five page translation and evaluation plan to a digital poster on Liberty's graduate template. The informatics analysis paper compares three real job descriptions in five to seven pages and examines one role against the ANA functional areas.

Liberty's 2026-2027 catalog describes NURS 630 Nursing Informatics Capstone this way:
This capstone course will provide the graduate student with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of the nursing informatics field (ANA, 2015) through identification of a problem, issue, or need in professional practice. A community assessment will be performed to identify the problem, issue or need at hand. Through consultation with their professor, the graduate student will then create an evidence-based project, to address this area of need through synthesis of advanced knowledge and skills, resulting in a nursing informatics deliverable as a means to foster improved outcomes.

Where NURS 630 papers lose points

Work in NURS 630 loses points when the project's problem is not tied to a named quality framework such as QSEN, NDNQI, Meaningful Use or a CMS initiative, when the evidence summary lists studies instead of synthesizing them, and when the evaluation plan has no measures or data source.

Using a NURS 630 sample well

Read each sample for how an informatics problem is carried from discovery to evidence to a practice change and a poster. Your INFO 668 topic, practicum site and the forum prompts come from your course; the samples here model how far each part should go and how it is usually organized.

NURS 630 questions, answered

What textbooks does NURS 630 use?
